Chubby
Vincent Massaro
The sponsor of this horse, Craft Company No. 6, is located in a building that was originally Fire Station No. 6. In the 1920's, just before motor power replaced horse power, this station had a well-known white horse named Chubby. Chubby, along with a fireman, is depicted in this creation. Chubby was sanded and primed with gesso. Multiple layers of acrylic paint were added to achieve the subtile coloration of the surface and to accent the musculature of the horse. A layer of golden isolation coat was used to protect the painted surface and a double layer of varnish applied to protect the surface from the outside elements. |
