Huntress and Her Stag

Vincent Massaro

Shortly after receiving their horses the Anderson Alley artists had one of their Second Saturday events. To dress up his plain horse, the artist attached deer antlers for the event. Liking the look and having a mannequin his sponsor had given him some time ago, the artist came up with the idea for Artemis, sister of Apollo and Greek goddess of the hunt. LIving in the old Erie Canal neighbood, now Interstate 490, and possibly on an old landfill the artists frequently finds pottery shards and other objects while working in the yard. Many of these found objects were used to create a mosaic saddle for the "Huntress". This horse stands in a park at the corner of Barrington and Park Avenue.
