Head For The Hills
Kit Corti
Head of the Hills by Naples artist Kit Corti, is located in the Eastview Mall at the main entrance of Bon-Tons, in front of Johnny Rockets. Sponsored by the Finger Lakes Visitors' Connection, the quarter horse is a 'beast of burden' sporting a gallery of Finger Lakes images. The multimedia sculpture highlights eleven hand painted canvases. The festive and colorful saddlecloth portrays the four seasons and over 20 children and adults participating in the activities of the region. Standing 15 feet tall, Hills is capped by a red tail hawk with a six-foot wingspan.
Head for the Hills is a feast of detail. The observer may be entertained by taking the whole sculpture in from a distance. Or, by circling the horse, the observer may be treated to the many individual vignettes including fireflies, ballroom dancing, wine tasting, skiing, and sight seeing. |
