Mare-Lynn-Monroe
Patricia J. Mosca
This was the original design that I entered when the call came for "artist wanted".
With a coloring book picture of a pony in hand, I went to work on my idea for a horse that
would represent Rochester. Hence, a purple horse, with a wreath of lilacs, came to life for
me. What an overwhelming honor, when out of 800 enteries, I made the cut to the 600 the
sponsors would view. Again, I was honored with a phone call from COMIDA who choose the
design, that was hanging on the 3rd floor of the exhibit in the Jonathan Child House, surrounded by so many other
wonderful designs. At this time they asked me if I would be able to do two horses for
them. WOW! Still thinking in terms of a coloring book picture I said YES. We had a
meeting and came to decisions about logos and the 2nd horse.
The horses arrived..... They certainly were life size and my studio was my garage! Yes,
my garage. In the coldest months of the year..2 life size horses filled my garage! My
good husband purchased a huge space heater for me and I set out to work. My daughter,
Lea Rizzo assisted me. We listened to music, drank a lot of coffee and stayed up to the wee
hours of the morning. Mare Lynn came to life for us, with the help of my loving family. For more information on Patricia Mosca's horses see E.D. Rider and Fitness Fury. |
