Barney's Legacy
Edith Lunt Small
I settled on a horse blanket design for the Pike Co. The horse is a solid brown with a blanket in the Pike Blue of their logo. They have been in business for over 100 years and the buildings they constructed represent that time span. The Pike Co. has been involved in the construction of the Granite Building, Midtown Plaza, Fingerlakes Race track, Allendale-Columbia School, Woodcliff Inn, the Strong Mansion and Highland Hospital among others. The colors on both horses are complimentary, subtle and meant to show the dignity of the horse. Tom Judson is shown on a bulldozer with his dog in his lap and his grandfather John Pike is on the other side on a bulldozer. After completing the design I applied glass beads all over the blanket with touches of gold paint.
