Spectrum

Various artists

The idea for Spectrum was conceived and implemented by Madelyn Whiteside of the HOP Gallery, to celebrate the Horses on Parade artists. Conceived as a horse blanket, the horse was divided into approximately 5" x 9"sections with each section being done by an artist in a style representative of their Horses On Parade horse. About fifty artists worked on the horse. Some artists worked directly on the horse in the gallery while others worked on precut sections of canvas which were sent to the gallery to be attached to the horse. A few artists did several sections. The legs, neck and face of the horse were airbrush painted by Robert C. Whiteside to represent a real horse. The fiberglass tail was removed and replaced with a real horsehair tail. As you look at the pictures can you identify the artist and horse which relates to each section?

The horse was adopted by the Harris Corporation and stands in a corral outside their corporate headquarters on University Avenue.
